Jesus teaches us to help those in need!

12 ladies from Maple Grove UMC, Walnut Hills UMC and Windsor UMC did just that. Last week, they traveled to Midwest Missions in Jefferson, IA packaging 40 School Kits, 40 Hygiene Kits, 40 rice meals that serve 6 and learned how to load and weave sleeping mats on a loom. They added a prayer to each kit and signed with some of your names. They touched 560 individuals that requested these items.

Midwest Mission has partnered with agencies that help with the shipping costs and will handle the last leg of the journey to a foreign land. The last couple of shipments have been to Ukraine with Hygiene kits, and medical supplies. The sleeping mats are a new projects using plastic grocery bags that are woven on a loom. These make a great moisture barrier for those sleeping on the ground. They are even requesting these to be shipped overseas.

Another group is going in March/April. How would you like to learn why we help those in need, make useful kits, carry out Jesus’ example and meet someone likeminded at the same time. Let Christine McFarland if you are interested in joining the next experience.
